As the founder, Educational Director, and image enthusiast of the salon, Shelly's mission is to have client's look and feel amazing after visiting the Water's Edge Salon and Spa. Her vision is for clients to feel warmth as soon as they walk through the door. Stylists are with their clients through all the important things in their life, from the good to the bad....weddings, births, graduations, sickness and death. We are by their side for the complete circle of life. Shelly feels it is much more meaningful than just being a hairdresser, it's a heartfelt companionship!
Shelly's ambition came by the warm energy of her mom and by the hard work ethic of her dad. She started the salon in a small space of 300 square feet in 1990 at the young age of 23, the second re-location grew to 1500 sq ft in 1995, and in 2000 she moved the salon to the current 3000 sq ft location. With an amazing team of genuine artists, Shelly's vision for her staff is to capture the passion that this industry holds. She strives for her staff to love the environment they work in, and reminds them that, "Successful people do the things unsuccessful people don't want to do."
Shelly juggles a full time clientele, motivating the staff, and continuing the vision for success of the Water's Edge Salon and Spa. Since 2000, she has been traveling the United States as a Team Quest platform artist for Aquage, a haircare company. She inspires others through her long hair designs as well as creative cutting and styling. Her talent has been featured in Allure magazine, Launchpad magazine, and throughout the Aquage company imagery. Her stage work is her forum to share technique and successful business ideas with other salon professionals.
Her mind never slows with ideas to improve the salon, the staff, and herself. "If it's not broken, break it and make it better!" ..."If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got."

Water's Edge opened its doors for the first time on Mother's Day of 1990, and since then Nancy has been our invisible Fairy Godmother. Being the proud mom, of the owner Shelly, she is the eyes and ears to make sure that Shelly's vision of Water's Edge is bright. As her official title of "Set Director", Nancy decorates the salon, she keeps things tidy, laundry is magically cleaned, methodically folded and properly put in its place, and thank goodness we never run out of toilet paper!
Nancy is like our personal dragonfly who reminds us that we are the light and can reflect the light in powerful ways if we choose to do so. "Let there be light" is the divine prompting to use the creative imagination as a force within your life. They help you to see through your illusions and allow your own light to shine in a new vision.
Sheri Gayer

Sheri joined the Water's Edge team in 1997 and completed an apprenticeship under the guidance of Shelly, as well as graduating from Southern New Hampshire University with a Bachelor in Marketing & Advertising. Currently, as the Salon Manager, her creativity blooms with salon marketing ideas, customer promotions and staff incentives.
Sheri continues her managerial education with several industry conferences a year as well as her cosmetology education in skin care, makeup and nails. She feels it is important to find balance between managing the salon and understanding the challenges & joys that the technicians have, so a couple of days a month Sheri works as technician. She loves to stay connected with her passion of Bioelements skin care, her love of detailed nail art, and warmth it brings to help customers feel good about themselves.

Tina's focus is to ensure your journey with us is enjoyable from start to finish.

With 19 years in the beauty industry, Rita still enjoys helping people feel their best. Rita is known for her bubbly personality, her contagious laugh and her red hair! As our Perm Specialist for 15 years, she also has an amazing ability to cater to our clients of all ages, with all different personalities. Other than Rita's love for perms, she enjoys creating with hair color as well as Men's specialty cuts. Rita can wrap a perm, tell a naughty joke & provide therapy for her clients all at the same time.

Vanessa is an open minded Artistic Designer Hair Stylist, whose goal is to encourage others to be themselves. She strongly believes that we can learn something from one another if we take the time to listen. Vanessa's duel licensing in cosmetology and esthetics lets her creativity flow. She offers a variety of services, anywhere from hair care and makeup, and to facial waxing. Her pallet of services never ends. Vanessa keeps her passion alive for education by working national hair shows as an Aquage alliance member.

As a young Creative Stylist and Nail Specialist, Lisa is no stranger to the world of teamwork. Coming from the background of hockey and holding championship titles, she was searching for a career with a team. At age 13, she was intrigued by her own hairdresser. Lisa was impressed by her knowledge, passion and attitude. After landing the job and assisting under the owner Shelly, she has now opened her chair to new people. Specializing in cuts, colors, highlights, updo's, and clipper cuts, she never stops learning!

Kaitlyn's love for the beauty industry came shortly after she learned how to play 'pretend'. Growing up she loved to do her own hair and makeup as well as her playmates, and then would find the prettiest dresses and the coolest outfits to complete their fashion statement! It was the incredible sense of self confidence and strength once she was all glammed up that captivated her into the beauty industry. It all started with her barrettes and lipstick in a Kaboodle, and now she's taking the path to live the life she's imagined.
She continuously participates in education classes; including cutting techniques, makeup artistry, creative coloring, texturizing, as well as customer service and relaxation methods. Kaitlyn has an amazing gift of listening to others and transforming their visions.

As a teenager, Faith was determined to become a success in the hair and beauty industry. For her, being a hairstylist is not only a trade, but a profession with a license to be creative! She loves all aspects of hair cutting, styling, coloring, and texturizing as well as teaching her clients how to duplicate their look at home. With seven years as a stylist, Faith continues climbing the ladder of achievement through her on going education, her loyal clients and her passion for teaching.
As a Regional Educator for Eufora International hair care, Faith travels the region to motivate and coach other stylists. She finds a tremendous amount of inspiration through sharing her stories and experiences to help other stylists reach their career goals. Faith’s aspiration of becoming a Global Educator is only a short distance away, where she will have the opportunity to travel the country educating other professionals in the beauty industry.

As a natural caretaker, Tara started her career as a nanny and later moving onto a LNA. In her early adulthood, she noticed that her skin was changing and it was taking on life of its own! With her curiosity as to why this was happening she stumbled upon her gift of human touch. As an esthetician for over 12 years, Tara provides an amazing gift to each and every customer. Her knowledge of Bioelements skin care as well as her emotional attachment to each person she meets creates an incredible journey. All of Tara's services begin with an enormous smile and hand shake, and they always end with a hug.

Joseph is motivated personally and professionally by his mom. As a single mom of two children, she managed to put herself through nursing school, have a successful career & family and to this day she continues her education. Joseph is well cultured, as he attended high school in Japan, achieved his massage therapy certificate in San Diego, worked in Hawaii and finally landed here in NH, graduating as a Licensed Massage Therapist from Hesser College.
As a LMT, he is also certified in Prenatal Massage and has had extensive training in deep tissue, Swedish Massage, and sports therapy. He loves the variety of techniques in massage, and thrives on education. Joseph is not only known for his supreme professionalism, he is also known for his incredibly dryer than dry sense of humor and of course as the one man amongst 17 women!

Born in New York City, but raised in Puerto Rico, Miriam came back to The States by herself at the age of 15. She first learned English by watching Sesame Street and then attending courses at Springfield College. While sound asleep 15 years ago, she dreamt that she owned a shop in a downtown city.
That shop was a massage therapy establishment. With her strong belief that dreams have meaning, she started massage school in 2005. She loves the opportunity to let her clients forget everything in their lives, so they can be completely stress free while under the spell of her talented hands! Miriam is now training as an Aesthetician and is offering facials and her specialty pedicure, the Luxury Pedicure!

As a young married women and mother of two, Danielle started her hairstyling designs on her oodles of Barbie Dolls when she was a little girl. Since her graduation from Continental Academie of Hair Design she has the ability to relate to clients of all ages and is efficient at finding age appropriate yet edgy styles for her clients. She is now more eager than ever to lean new skills to express her individual style. Danielle shows her love for learning by attending and becoming certified in numberous technical classes. She enjoys coloring most of all and providing dramatic changes for her clients. Her love of color is driving her in her pursuit of becoming a Color Educator!
