Frequently Asked Spray Tanning Questions
The clothes you wear should be dark in color and loose-fitting. Tight clothing can cause the tan to develop unevenly. As far as what to wear while you’re being sprayed, it’s completely up to your comfort level. Many clients stick with their birthday suits to avoid tan lines. We have a variety of disposable bras, panties, thongs, and even boxer shorts. You can also wear dark undergarments or a dark bathing suit.
A spray tan is designed to last 5 to 7 days. There are many things you can do to help increase longevity. Drinking plenty of water and moisturizing daily are the keys to success. We do offer Norvell body washes, moisturizers, and bronzing lotions to increase the longevity of your tan. You really want to stay away from rough loofahs, exfoliants, chemical ingredients, and parabens
Norvell Venetian products have a special formula with a purple undertone that neutralizes any orange pigment, resulting in a beautiful, natural look.
We cannot provide a spray-on product to skin that has experienced a sunburn in the past 30 days. Even if the skin appears healed, your tan will not be uniform in the areas where the skin was burned.
A spray tan does not in any way protect you from the sun’s rays. Your skin will still burn and pre-mature age if not protected with sunscreen. We always recommend using at least SPF 30 daily.
Any exfoliating should happen at least 24 hours before your spray tan. This includes services like manicures, pedicures, facials, waxing, and shaving. If you must shower before your spray tan, use cool water and do so no sooner than 3 hours prior to your session. Avoid using perfumes, makeup, lotions, and deodorants on the morning of your session.
This is dependent on the solution used for your spray tan session. Rapid solutions can be rinsed within a few hours. Other solutions shouldn’t be rinsed for at least 8 hours. For optimum results, no soaps or shower gels should be used for 24 hours post-session, regardless of the solution used.
If there is a chance of rain during your tanning session, please wear long sleeves and long pants and bring an umbrella! Rain, sweat, or any other moisture on your skin during your tan’s processing stage could cause unevenness.
